Trampolines and safety: how to practice trampolining with zero safety issues

Trampolines are not dangerous as long as you follow certain safety rules.

The first step is to choose the trampoline that’s right for you. The Spring and Springcare trampolines by Cornilleau have been designed to offer maximum safety. Both models have a sturdy galvanized steel structure, a resistant safety net and curved posts that help to avoid impacts. Both models have been designed to ensure the legs and springs do not come into contact. On the Springcare model, the springs have been replaced with elastic bands (bungee cords), that are covered with a double layer of foam. On the Spring model, the springs are fitted outside of the jumping surface and separated by the protective net. To guarantee maximum safety, our trampolines are TÜV SÜD / GS certified - the benchmark certification for trampolines, issued by an independent organization.

It is also very important that you follow the assembly instructions. If you follow them step by step, you can rest assured that your trampoline will have zero safety issues.

Consult the Cornilleau trampoline assembly instructions below:

The majority of accidents are caused by incorrect use of the trampoline. It is essential that you comply with the safety recommendations:

  • Number of jumpers: never let more than one person jump on the trampoline at the same time.
  • Minimum age: our trampolines are not suitable for children under 3.
  • Supervision: Trampolines should always be used under the supervision of an adult. We recommend that you are extra careful when supervising children under 7.
  • Objects on the trampoline and in your pockets: do not leave any objects that might cause an impact on the trampoline surface. When you jump on the trampoline, any objects in your pockets are also likely to cause impacts and should be left outside of the jumping surface.
  • Wear socks: you should not wear shoes when using a trampoline.
  • Acrobatics: avoid dangerous jumps and other acrobatic movements, because they often lead to accidents.
  • Weather conditions: check the weather conditions before using your trampoline. If the mat is wet, there is a risk that you will slip and injure yourself. Strong winds can also cause you to lose your balance
  • Number of jumpers: never let more than one person jump on the trampoline at the same time.

  • Although the safety net stops you falling off the trampoline, it is better to always jump in the center of the trampoline.

  • Acrobatics: avoid dangerous jumps and other acrobatic movements, because they often lead to accidents.

  • Your trampoline should be set up outdoors, or in a space that has a high enough ceiling to ensure you do not injure yourself when you jump.

Do not set up your trampoline under a tree, as there is a risk you may injure yourself when you jump, or that branches may fall onto the trampoline.

Leave a space of at least 8 meters (26.2 ft) above the jumping surface.

Make sure you place the trampoline on a flat surface.

Protect your trampoline from harsh weather, especially strong winds.

Leave a free space of 2 meters (6.5 ft) around your trampoline to make it safer to use.

Before using the trampoline, remove all objects from the jumping surface.

Do not use the trampoline in bad weather.

Avoid contact with sharp objects, do not wear shoes when you use the trampoline.

All the recommendations for use are also included in the instructions provided with the Spring and Springcare trampolines.

Certification and compliance with standards

Certification by recognized independent organizations means you can rest assured that our trampolines are safe. The main ones are the German certification TUV SÜD GS and French certification issued by CRITT, both of which constitute standards. Cornilleau trampolines also comply with the NF EN 71-14 standard.
